Transition Mentoring for Human Foods Program StafF

FDAAA (the FDA Alumni Association) is announcing a free transition-mentoring pilot for recently-separated Human Foods Program (HFP) staff.

This transition-mentoring program leverages FDAAA members’ deep knowledge of FDA and experience both inside and outside the agency. Mentors will help mentees develop and clarify professional-development goals and strategies, while sharing their own transition and post-FDA experiences.

The pilot can accommodate 55-60 mentees, picked on a first-come/first-served basis, with each mentor supporting multiple mentees. Mentors will provide up to three 30-60 minute mentoring sessions, and mentors and mentees can add sessions at their choosing. The pilot initially targets recently-separated HFP staff, and we will use learnings from the pilot to evaluate whether to expand the program to other parts of FDA.

This pilot is being headed by Joe Levitt, former CFSAN Director (1998-2003), and all mentors have extensive human foods program experience.

Participants must be (or become) FDAAA members. Note the free membership option through December 2025 at FDAAA.org for new members who were recently separated from FDA. 

Participation is first-come/first-served, based on the number of available FDAAA mentors. The Sign-Up period will run until June 3. Mentees will be notified after the mentor-mentee matching process and the mentoring is expected to commence later in June. This pilot program is part of a much broader set of activities that the FDAAA has undertaken or is planning to support FDA staff, both past and present.
