2010 FDA Distinguished Alumni Awards Presented to Levitt, Hubbard and Finlayson
Three FDA Alumni were awarded FDA’s Distinguished Alumni Award at the FDA 2010 Awards Ceremony on held on June 3. This year’s recipients are Joseph Levitt, former Director, Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, William Hubbard, former Associate Commissioner and Dr. John Finlayson, former Associate Director for Science, OBRR, CBER. The awards to Levitt and Hubbard were based on recommendations from the FDAAA. Their award citations read:
Joe Levitt
For exceptional leadership and advocacy of FDA through education and information thereby promoting greater understanding and support of the agency's mission to protect the public health.
Bill Hubbard
For unparalleled commitment to and tireless efforts in support of the Food and Drug Administration's mission of promoting and protecting the public health of our nation.
Dr. John Finlayson was recommended to receive this award from the Center for Biologics. His award citation reads: For 51 years of distinguished service to the cause of public health, through research, regulation, and inspired mentoring of the current generation of CBER scientist-regulators.
