Message from the Chairman of the Board

Robert W. Sauer

Robert W. Sauer

It is with great honor and humility that I assume the position of Chairman of the FDAAA Board of Directors.

Serving on the Board since the Association’s founding in 2001 and as Vice-Chair for the past three years has been a continuing privilege. As I look back, I am amazed at the number of current and former FDA’ers who have worked diligently to create and foster programs in support of our FDAAA members and the Agency’s public health and regulatory mission.

Thank you to those who are stepping down this year from positions in the Association. I have learned a great deal from all of you. You have carefully guided the Association and, working with the membership and FDA, have established many successful activities of mutual interest.

I am very pleased to be serving with the continuing and newly elected Officers, Board Members and Associate Liaisons, all of whom bring creativity, knowledge of FDA and FDAAA needs, and a shared commitment to meeting our goals and objectives.

For the coming year we plan to work hard to continue our success in many areas, some of which include:

  • supporting the FDAAA Centennial Scholarship program which has to date provided scholarships for six deserving Masters degree students in Temple University’s QA/RA program;
  • continuing our efforts to connect the current FDA leadership with the Association through our luncheon speakers’ program;
  • utilizing e-mail updates and the website for continuing communication with members;
  • continuing to work with the Agency to assist in any way possible (as with our international activities) to further the mission of the FDA.

We also want to provide special emphasis on expanding our membership base (1,000 is possible in 2010) and to provide greater opportunities for more member events outside of the Washington DC area.

Equally important to me is the opportunity to make sure the FDAAA reaches out to our members to seek their input regarding the Association’s future plans and activities. We also need your help in carrying out these efforts. A few minutes of your time working on a project or a committee means a great deal to the success of the association.

Our energy is high, our membership is extraordinarily capable, and our track record is very successful. Please join me and the Board and Officers in making a positive contribution to the FDAAA’s continuing success. Collectively, there is no limit on what we can accomplish.

Bob Sauer
